Smoke, gas and dust extraction systems

Filtration

All extraction systems draw off contaminated air, filter out harmful particles and gases using a three-stage process, and return the purified air to the premises.

Recirculation air system

The incoming contaminated air is deflected by 90 degrees and slowed down as a result. This causes larger particles to be separated from the airflow, thereby preventing premature clogging of the main filter.

2. Air balance plates

serve as a reinforcement for the filter and increase the filter's lifespan by ensuring that the full available filter surface is utilised

3. Reinforced HEPA element

Reinforcement membrane (100 times more robust than the filter medium itself) prevents the filter from bursting under high pressure

4. Activated carbon layer

Harmful gases are removed from the airflow using an activated carbon layer.

5. Purified Air

is returned to the workplace. The air cleaned by the system is generally cleaner than the normal ambient air at the workplace

All filters are taken back by JOERNS GmbH after use and disposed of properly (special waste). Proof of disposal will be provided for your environmental management.

Filter stage 1

Labyrinth™ Bellows Bag Filter

The bellows bag filter protects the HEPA filter from premature clogging by removing larger particles from the airflow.

The filter was developed as a solution for the weaknesses of bag and pocket filters.

The lightweight and robust construction of this pre-filter offers excellent particle retention capacity despite its small size, ensuring a long service life and keeping replacement filter costs to a minimum.

The filter makes handling problematic materials, which produce sticky moist particles during processing, safe and efficient.

The filters are available in the classes
F6 – Particles > 1-3µm and
F8/F9 – Particles > 0.5-1µm.

For systems that are for pure smoke extraction and therefore do not require a bag filter, a pre-filter mat is used in the main filter to protect the HEPA filter. It consists of a fleece with two different densities (F5/F6).

Filter stage 2

HEPA* filter in the sub-micron range

Enhanced non-bursting HEPA materials are used in the main filters to remove the smallest particles from the airflow.

HEPA filters retain 99.9971% of particles larger than 0.3 µm and
95% retains particles larger than 0.01 µm.

The standard filter #113.505 has a HEPA surface area of 4.03 m².

Standard main filters are designed as combined filters with H14 HEPA and activated carbon sections and are used to capture suspended particles as well as neutralise vapours and gases.

Furthermore, pure HEPA or activated carbon filters are offered

The housings are made of galvanised sheet steel.

Each filter is individually tested, certified, and for the complete proof of disposal with item-
and provided with an individual serial number.

Filter stage 3

Activated carbon filter

Activated carbon filter

A powerful activated carbon layer in the main filter adsorbs toxic gases before the clean air is returned to the workplace.

Activated carbon, either single or double activated, is on offer.

Depending on the type of process gases produced, specially impregnated activated carbon can be used.

Main filters are designed as combination filters with H14 HEPA and activated carbon sections and serve to capture suspended particles as well as neutralise vapours and gases.

The standard filter #113.505 contains 7 kg of activated carbon and can absorb approximately 2.5 kg of the gases produced.

The filter housings are manufactured from galvanised sheet steel.
